What is a Straight A Traineeship?
A traineeship is an education and training programme with work experience which unlocks the potential of young people aged 16 to 24, and prepares them for their future careers by helping them to become ‘work ready’.
Traineeships last between six weeks and six months and include:-
*A meaningful, high quality, work experience placement of 100 hours or more with an employer.
*Work preparation training delivered by a Straight A Training which can include CV writing, interview preparation and interpersonal skills.
*English and maths qualifications delivered by Straight A Training.
In addition to these basic elements, we can add other features to meet the needs of your business. This could include a relevant, industry specific vocational qualification such as:
BIIAB Food Safety, First Aid, Food Hygiene, Allergen Awareness, Diversity Awareness
All training costs are met by government funding. We will work with you to draw up a programme specific to your business needs and timetable.
What are your responsibilities as an employer?
You will commit to a high quality work experience placement.
This will include:
*Pre-agreed content and objectives between your company, Straight A Training and the Trainee, where they learn through doing and working.
*Straight A Tutors will be able to meet the Trainees at agreed times to support and deliver work preparation skills and maths and English if required.
*Trainees should receive support and training from an identified mentor in the business, receiving regular constructive feedback.
At the end of the placement the Trainee should be offered a formal interview. Ideally this is for a position or apprenticeship. Whatever the result, they should receive written feedback from this interview.
Employers are not required to pay Trainees, but are encouraged to support them with expenses such as transport and meals.
